Nutrients and intolerances in context

With the Combo Test, you look at both from a single hair sample: your micronutrient needs and your reactions to foods and everyday substances. Click on an area to learn more.

One hair sample, two analyses

The Combo Test brings together the Micronutrient Test and the Intolerance Test. You send in just one hair sample and receive both evaluations in one clear results report.

It includes:

  • Micronutrients: up to 105 values for vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes and trace elements.
  • Intolerances: up to 850 foods, pollens and everyday substances, rated from weak to strong.
  • One process: one order, one sample, one questionnaire.
Why look at both together?

If you avoid certain foods, your diet is often more one-sided than you realise. Along with the foods you avoid, important sources of nutrients sometimes drop out too. Looking at both results helps you shape your diet mindfully and with plenty of variety.

For example:

  • Dairy products: are an important source of calcium.
  • Wholegrain cereals: provide B vitamins and fibre.
  • Nuts and seeds: contain magnesium and vitamin E.
What the test is and what it isn’t

Our hair analysis is based on an alternative, holistic method. It is not a medical diagnosis and does not replace a visit to the doctor. It gives you a structured overview as an impulse for your everyday life.

Good to know:

  • No test kit needed: a few hairs and the printed submission form are all it takes.
  • Dyed hair too: the analysis is still possible.
  • Not a drug or alcohol test: the Combo Test is not suitable as proof of abstinence, for example for an MPU (the German medical-psychological fitness-to-drive assessment).

Your results report

You receive your holistic results as a clear PDF. It includes:

  • Detailed evaluation of your values for vitamins, amino acids, enzymes, minerals and much more.
  • Easy-to-understand analysis of how your body may react to foods, pollen, histamine and much more.
  • Free e-book that clearly explains all the connections.
  • Personal, free phone and email support for questions about your results.

Looking at connections mindfully

Eating habits

Possible influencing factors

  • Eating in a hurry
  • High sugar and salt intake
  • One-sided diet with lots of convenience foods
  • Always eating the same foods

A one-sided diet can influence both your micronutrient balance and how well you tolerate individual foods.

Good to know

  • A variety of natural foods
  • Eating slowly and mindfully
  • Rotating foods instead of eating the same every day

A varied diet provides you with plenty of nutrients and helps you better notice connections between what you eat and how you feel.

Lifestyle

Possible influencing factors

  • Irregular meals
  • Lack of sleep
  • Little exercise and little time outdoors

A hectic everyday life can influence what and how you eat – and with it your nutrient supply and how you feel after eating.

Good to know

  • Regular meals
  • Sufficient sleep
  • Exercise in the fresh air

A structured daily routine creates a good foundation for mindfully observing your diet and how you feel.

Stress

Possible influencing factors

  • Persistent psychological and physical stress
  • Feeling overwhelmed in everyday life
  • Eating on the side and under time pressure

Under stress, many people eat faster and less mindfully. This can influence how you experience and tolerate meals.

Good to know

  • Regular breaks
  • Relaxation techniques such as meditation or breathing exercises
  • Enjoying meals in peace

Mindful relaxation can help you better notice your body’s signals around eating.

Environmental factors

Possible influencing factors

  • Pollen and grasses in season
  • Air pollution and chemicals
  • Personal care products with potentially harmful ingredients

Not just foods – substances in your surroundings can also play a role in how you feel in everyday life.

Good to know

  • Keeping an eye on pollen counts
  • Preferring natural products
  • Being mindful of environmental pollution

If you shape your surroundings mindfully, you can better understand which factors influence how you feel.

Exercise

Possible influencing factors

  • Lack of exercise
  • High strain without sufficient recovery

Too little exercise or intense strain can influence your nutrient needs and your general well-being.

Good to know

  • Regular moderate exercise
  • Combining endurance and strength training
  • Enough time for regeneration

Regular, moderate activity can have a positive effect on your micronutrient balance and how you feel in your body.

Genetics & age

Possible influencing factors

  • Genetic predisposition
  • Changes in absorption and tolerance with increasing age

Age and predisposition can influence how nutrients are absorbed and how you tolerate certain foods.

Good to know

  • Regularly adapting your diet to your stage of life

Looking at both topics individually can be especially helpful in new stages of life.

What are food reactions and micronutrient requirements?

Many people notice that they react individually to certain ingredients in food or to environmental factors. At the same time, everyone’s personal need for vitamins, minerals and trace elements is different – influenced, for example, by diet, lifestyle or age.

“Every 5th person reacts to certain foods & 58% regularly feel exhausted in everyday life.”

Medicross customer survey of over 106,000 customers.³

What’s good for one person may work differently for another. Many experts consider a mindful, varied diet a good starting point for personal well-being in everyday life.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers about:

What is included in the Medicross Combo Test?
The Combo Test combines two analyses in one package: the intolerance test covering over 650 examined substances, and the micronutrient analysis via hair sample. Both evaluations are performed on the same hair sample — so you only send in a single sample and receive a combined, detailed evaluation as a PDF by email.
Who is the Combo Test for?
The Combo Test is for anyone who wants to live, eat, and care for themselves more consciously. In our customer survey, stress, exhaustion, and lack of drive were by far the most frequently mentioned topics, followed by sleep problems, allergies, and individual food reactions.³
How much does a hair analysis cost?
The Medicross Combo Test – a micronutrient analysis and an intolerance test from a single hair sample – currently costs €59.90 instead of €119.80 (RRP). This includes your complete evaluation as a PDF, an accompanying e-book and personal email and phone support from our team of nutritional scientists. There’s no subscription and there are no hidden costs: you only pay for the test and standard letter postage for your hair sample – you don’t need to buy or return a test kit. If you’re only interested in one of the two topics, you’ll also find the Micronutrient Test and the Intolerance Test individually in our shop.
How meaningful is a hair analysis?
Transparency matters to us: our hair analysis is based on an alternative, holistic method. It is not a biochemical lab measurement and not a medical diagnosis – and it does not replace a visit to the doctor. Its strength lies in giving you easy, low-threshold orientation: you get a structured overview of over 1,000 parameters that gives you ideas for shaping your diet and routines more mindfully. Over 500,000 analyses carried out and 4.8 out of 5 stars from more than 5,000 reviews show that many people value exactly this kind of starting point. If you have specific complaints, please always talk to your doctor.
Can the hair analysis give indications of a vitamin deficiency?
The micronutrient analysis in the Combo Test looks at up to 105 values – including vitamins such as vitamin D and B12, minerals such as iron and zinc, as well as amino acids, enzymes and trace elements. Your evaluation uses clear scales to show where our analysis indicates an abnormality (“need” or “deficiency”) – as food for thought for your everyday life. Important: this is not a medical diagnosis based on blood values. If you’d like to have a vitamin deficiency medically investigated, a blood test with your doctor is the right way to go – our analysis helps you ask the right questions beforehand.
Is the test also suitable for children?
Yes. Because the analysis only needs a small hair sample – with no blood draw, no pinprick and no doctor’s appointment – families in particular find the test a pleasant option for children. Simply cut off 10–20 hairs (the length doesn’t matter) and enter your child’s age in the online questionnaire so we can put the evaluation into the right context. Please note: each test is for one person – for siblings, you order a separate test for each child. And if your child has specific complaints, the paediatrician is always the first point of contact.
What’s the difference between the Combo Test and the individual tests?
The Combo Test brings together our two most popular analyses from a single hair sample: the Micronutrient Test (up to 105 values) and the Intolerance Test (up to 850 foods & substances). You send in just one sample and receive a combined, detailed evaluation. If you’re only interested in one of the two topics, you’ll also find both analyses as individual tests in our shop. The Combo Test is worth it if you want the full picture – you save considerably compared with two separate orders.
Does the test work with a vegan or vegetarian diet?
Yes, the test is independent of your diet. The micronutrient analysis can be especially interesting for vegetarians (around 22% of our survey participants) and vegans (around 12%), because certain vitamins and minerals (e.g. B12, iron, zinc) are absorbed differently from plant-based foods.³ Please indicate your diet in the questionnaire so we can place the analysis into the right context.
When can micronutrient needs increase?
During phases of higher demand — intense training, a demanding daily life, hormonal changes, periods of growth — your individual need for vitamins, minerals, and trace elements can shift. If you often feel out of balance or notice changes in your skin, hair, or nails, it can be helpful to take a conscious look at your nutritional and lifestyle habits.
Which foods are analyzed in the intolerance test?
Our intolerance test covers over 650 potential substances. These include commonly mentioned groups such as dairy products (lactose), fruit (fructose), grains (gluten), histamine-rich foods, as well as vegetables, nuts, spices, additives, and much more. You'll receive practical guidance on which substances might deserve special attention in your everyday life.
What is the difference between an allergy and an intolerance?
With an allergy, the immune system reacts to certain substances and can trigger stronger physical reactions. Individual food reactions typically don't involve the immune system and mostly show up in digestion or general physical well-being. Our test doesn't replace a medical diagnosis but can offer useful pointers for your everyday life.
Which symptoms indicate a food intolerance?
Some people notice reactions after eating certain foods — an unusual feeling in the stomach, bloating, nausea, diarrhea, or constipation. These can appear hours later, which makes it harder to identify the cause. In our survey, nearly 18% of participants personally reported intolerances — one of the more frequently mentioned topics.³
How does the Medicross hair analysis work?
You cut off 10–20 hairs, put them into a small paper or plastic bag and stick it onto the submission form from your order confirmation at the marked spot. You send both to us by post. At the same time, you fill in our online questionnaire with your personal order number. Your sample is then analysed and you receive your written evaluation as a PDF by email.

The products offered at www.medicross.com — such as „Intolerance Test“, „Micronutrient Test“, „Microplastic Test“ or „Heavy Metal Test“, along with their variants for pets — serve exclusively as individual, complementary wellness orientation. The names are used in a non-medical, everyday context. Our tests are based on alternative methods that do not involve any biochemical, molecular-biological, or cellular analysis. They have no medical purpose and are not equivalent to conventional medical lab tests or in-vitro diagnostics under EU Regulation (EU) 2017/746 (IVDR). The results are intended for subjective reflection on individual resonance patterns — in humans as well as animals — and do not replace medical or veterinary assessment. Our tests are expressly not intended to determine medically relevant parameters such as allergies or deficiency conditions. They constitute no diagnosis, contain no treatment recommendation, and are not suitable for the prevention, treatment, or monitoring of illnesses. We expressly point out that our tests and content: do not constitute or replace a medical diagnosis; are not intended to detect, treat, monitor, or prevent illnesses or health disorders; are not suitable for self-medication or therapy adjustment. None of the content represents a healing promise or efficacy claim. Diagnoses and treatment decisions may only be made by licensed medical doctors. For any health-related questions, qualified medical advice must always be sought. Every individual acts on their own responsibility. All product images and illustrations are symbolic and have no diagnostic or scientific value. The micronutrient analysis results in a need-percentage value, which is to be understood as a guide value. Expressly noted: this is not about deficiency symptoms. In intolerance tests, all parameters that do not react beyond a threshold value are hidden. The intolerance test does not include any test for allergies.
What approach does Medicross take?
Our approach is based on holistic and complementary ways of thinking, without making medical diagnoses or healing promises. Rather, we want to support you in shaping your lifestyle individually, consciously, and on your own terms. You can find more details in our Disclaimer*

Can I take the hair test with dyed hair?
Yes — dyed, tinted, or chemically treated hair doesn't affect the result. You can send it in without any concerns. The same applies to hair after a perm, straightening, bleaching, or highlights. The only requirement is that it's clean and dry.
How do I send in my hair sample correctly?
Cut off 10–20 hairs as close to the scalp as possible and put them into a small paper or plastic bag. Stick the bag onto your submission form (the PDF from your order confirmation) at the marked spot. Please never put loose hairs into the envelope – inside the bag the sample stays protected during transport. Then fold the submission form, put it into a normal envelope and send it by post to the address given in the confirmation. At the same time, fill in the online questionnaire at fragebogen.medicross.com with your order number.
How many hairs are needed for the hair test?
We need 10 to 20 hairs for a reliable evaluation. The hairs should be freshly cut, clean, and dry. If you don't have enough head hair, you can also use body hair.
What hair length do I need for the test?
Hair length doesn't matter. Even very short hairs of just a few millimeters work, as long as you can gather the required 10–20 hairs. What counts is the number, not the length.
What do I do if I'm bald or have very little hair?
The test works perfectly fine even with a bald head, very thin hair, or bald patches. Use body hair instead — beard, chest, underarm, or leg hair work just as well as head hair. Combed-out or fallen hair without roots is also suitable, as long as you can gather the minimum of 10–20 hairs.
How long does it take to receive my test result?
Once your hair sample arrives with us, the evaluation usually takes around 18 business days. With the Express service, this time is shortened accordingly. You'll automatically receive an email as soon as your personal evaluation is ready.
In what format do I receive my test results?
You receive your evaluation as a PDF document by email. That way you can open it on your phone, tablet, or computer and print it yourself if you wish. There's no additional postal delivery.
How do I understand my evaluation? What do „Deficiency“ and „Need“ mean?
Your evaluation uses clear scales and plain terms: „Deficiency“ points to areas where our analysis shows a clearly pronounced pattern. „Need“ describes a more moderate signal — where it can be worth paying more conscious attention to certain food groups or routines in your daily life. The percentage values next to them express the intensity of the individual resonance. Both terms are meant as an impulse for reflection and don't replace a medical diagnosis.
Who can I contact with questions about my evaluation?
Our team of nutritional scientists is available by email or phone. You can also book a consultation directly if you'd like to go through your results together.
How do I order the Combo Test?
Choose the Combo Test in our online shop, add it to your cart, and follow the checkout process. After completion, you'll receive a confirmation email with your personal submission sheet to print yourself and all further information.
Do I receive a test kit by mail?
No, we deliberately do not ship a test kit. Instead, after your order you receive your personal submission form as a PDF by email to print out yourself. You put your hair sample into a small paper or plastic bag and stick it onto the printed submission form at the marked spot. You put both into a normal envelope and send it to us. This saves shipping time and packaging waste, and speeds up the process for you.
I haven't received an order confirmation — what should I do?
Depending on the payment method, it can take up to 24 hours for the confirmation with the submission sheet to reach you. Please also check your spam or promotions folder first. If after 24 hours you still haven't found it, write to us at info@medicross.com — we'll send you the confirmation manually.
Can I use the Combo Test for several people?
Each Combo Test is designed for one person, since the evaluation is created individually. If you'd like to test a partner, children, or other people, please order a separate test per person.
Can I revoke or cancel my order?
You have a 14-day right of withdrawal after your order — but only as long as you haven't downloaded your submission sheet yet. With the download of the submission sheet, the service begins and the right of withdrawal expires early. Once the 14-day period has passed or the submission sheet has already been downloaded, cancellation is no longer possible. As long as both conditions are met, simply send us an email with your order number to info@medicross.com.
Is the Combo Test useful for athletes?
During phases of intense physical exertion, your individual need for vitamins, minerals, and trace elements can change. Nearly half of our survey participants regularly do endurance sports, and about a third also do strength training.³ The micronutrient analysis can give athletes impulses to reflect more consciously on their supply — complementing training and nutrition plans, but without replacing sports-medicine diagnostics.
Can I take the test during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
For any questions about nutrition during this phase of life, please always consult your doctor, midwife, or a qualified nutritional advisor.
Do medications like cortisone or the pill affect my result?
Since our procedure isn't a biochemical blood measurement, you can usually take the test even while on medication — for example cortisone, the pill, antibiotics, antidepressants, painkillers, or thyroid medication. Please list your current medications and supplements in the online questionnaire — this helps us with the assessment. Any change to your medication should be discussed exclusively with your treating physician.
