A balanced intake of nutrients can make an important contribution to meeting the nutritional needs of pets. Since each animal has individual requirements, it is sensible to pay attention to an adjusted intake of micronutrients such as vitamins, minerals, trace elements, and amino acids.

Amino acids
Amino acids are chemical compounds that form long chains and form the basic structure of proteins. They are found in all living organisms and perform numerous important functions in the human body. The body can produce some of the amino acids itself; these are therefore referred to as non-essential. The essential amino acids, on the other hand, cannot be produced independently and must be taken in regularly through food.
GABA, L-alanine, L-arginine, L-asparagine, L-citrulline, L-cysteineL-glutamine, L-histidine, L-isoleucine, L-leucine, L-lysine, L-methionine, L-ornithine, L-phenylalanine, L-proline, L-serine, L-threonine, L-tryptophan, L-tyrosine, L-valine, L-glutathione, L-theanine, Creatine, glycine

Stress parameters

FP-DETOX*, FP-Oxidative-SRS*², FP-Hcyst*

Enzymes
Enzymes are complex protein molecules that act as “accelerators” (also known as biocatalysts) of biochemical reactions and metabolic processes in the human body. This means that they accelerate biochemical reactions by reducing the necessary activation energy.
Bromelain, papain, pepsin, nattokinase¹

Minerals
Minerals are essential nutrients that must be taken in with food and that the human body needs for numerous functions. Minerals are divided into bulk and trace elements. Bulk elements are present in the body in relatively large quantities, whereas trace elements are only present in small quantities.
Boron, iron, iodinepotassium, selenium, silicon, calcium, magnesium, chromium, copper, manganese, zinc, germanium ¹, lithium ¹

Secondary plant substances
Secondary plant substances are natural chemical compounds in plants that are not essential nutrients. They are formed during plant metabolism and influence the color, aroma and taste of fruit, vegetables and herbs, among other things. These diverse compounds can be responsible for the bright colors of berries or peppers, for example. They are often found in the outer layers, skins and leaves, which is why it can make sense to prepare plant-based foods as freshly and gently as possible.
Sulforaphanelutein, beta-Carotin, quercetin, rutin, resveratrol¹, astaxanthin ¹citrus bioflavonoid ¹, rutin¹PEA¹, epigallocatechin gallate ¹, spermidine¹, sulforaphane ¹, apigenin¹, pomegranate extract (ellagic acid¹), lycopene¹, Olive leaf extract (oleuropein)¹, Rhodiola Rosea extract ¹, zeaxanthin¹

Special parameters
Various substances are included in specialized evaluations in order to cover a broad spectrum of parameters.
FP probiotics, omega-3 fatty acids, chloride, D-ribose, lecithin, pregnenolone¹, SAMe¹, D-ribose¹, ashwagandha¹, MSM¹, pine bark extract¹, cannabidiol¹, curcumin¹, ginseng extract¹, goji berry extract¹, grapefruit seed extract (GSE)¹, melatonin¹, chaga¹, cordyceps¹, hericium¹, reishi¹, schisandra¹, vitamin B17¹

Vitamins
Vitamins are organic compounds and, unlike other nutrients, vitamins do not provide energy. They are substances that the body cannot synthesize itself (with the exception of vitamin D). They are therefore considered essential for humans as they must be taken in with food.
Vit A, Vit B5, Vit B7, Vit D, Vit E, Vit K2, Vit B1, Vit B12, Vit B2, Vit B3, Vit B6, Vit B9, Vit C, Vit K1¹

Vitaminoids
Vitaminoids are vitamin-like substances that comprise a range of different substances and metabolites. They were all initially assigned to the group of vitamins until it was discovered that the body can synthesize them itself. They therefore belong to the group of conditionally essential nutrients.
Choline, Coenzyme Q10, Inositol, L-Carnitine, Taurine, Alpha-Lipoic acid, Vit B15 (Pangamic acid), Vit B10 (PABA), inositol¹

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about Micronutrients

Individual food intolerances in animals
Some animals may react sensitively to certain ingredients in the feed. This can lead to individual peculiarities in feed conversion, which may manifest themselves in the area of digestion. In contrast to immunological reactions, classic allergies are not to the fore here. Possible triggers could include certain protein sources, types of grain or added ingredients. The causes of such reactions can vary greatly from person to person.
Common Food Intolerances
Animals often experience intolerances to certain ingredients in food. These include protein sources such as beef, chicken, or fish, as well as certain grains like wheat or corn. Additives and preservatives can also be poorly tolerated by some animals.
What Role Do Micronutrients Play?
Micronutrients can make an important contribution to basic processes in the body, such as normal energy metabolism and the normal functioning of the immune system. As most micronutrients cannot be produced by the body itself, a balanced diet is important to meet individual requirements.
Daily Micronutrient Requirements
Pets can also have an increased need for vitamins, minerals and trace elements in certain life situations – such as high physical stress, changes in everyday life or environmental influences. Possible indications could include a change in activity, general tiredness or abnormalities in the skin and coat. If you notice such changes, it may make sense to take a closer look at your pet’s diet and environment.
Difference Between Micro- and Macronutrients
Macronutrients are nutrients that the body needs in large quantities, primarily for energy supply. Macronutrients include carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Micronutrients such as vitamins, minerals, trace elements, and amino acids, on the other hand, do not provide direct energy but fulfill important supporting functions in metabolism and contribute to numerous bodily processes.

Questions about Our Tests

How does the ordering process work?
You can order our tests quickly and easily online. Select the test you want, add it to your shopping cart, and follow the steps at checkout. Once you have completed your order, you will receive an order confirmation by email along with further information on how to perform the test and a submission form to print out yourself.
How many hairs are needed for the test?
We need about 10 to 20 hairs from you—the length of the hair does not matter. It is only important that the hair is clean and dry. If no head hair is available, you can also use other body hair as an alternative.
